Placements24 presents a Geotechnical Engineer opportunity with a respected consultancy in the mining sector, based in East London, Eastern Cape. You will assess ground conditions, design stable excavations, and manage geotechnical risks from exploration through mine closure.

The role requires 5+ years of geotechnical experience, proficiency with FLAC/PLAXIS, and strong report writing and CAD skills. ECSA registration is advantageous, with travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience in mining.
• Experience in data analysis, interpretation, and numerical modelling.
• ECSA registration is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations and supervise borehole drilling.
• Perform geotechnical analyses for open-pit and underground excavations.
• Develop geotechnical designs including support systems and slope stabilization.
• Prepare investigation reports, design documents, and risk assessments.
• Provide on-site supervision during construction and operation phases.
• Monitor ground conditions and liaise with clients and project teams.
• Stay updated on geotechnical practices and mining technologies.
