About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to support critical energy infrastructure projects in and around Pretoria . This role is essential for ensuring the stability and safety of foundations and structures for power plants, transmission lines, and renewable energy installations. You will conduct site investigations, analyze soil and rock conditions, and provide expert recommendations to guide design and construction activities. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of soil mechanics and foundation engineering, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment, contributing to the robust development of South Africa's energy landscape . Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute subsurface investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Perform geotechnical laboratory testing and analysis of soil and rock properties.
• Develop foundation designs for various energy infrastructure projects, including power plants and substations.
• Conduct slope stability analyses, settlement calculations, and seismic hazard assessments.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical investigation reports and provide technical recommendations.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and construction teams to address geotechnical concerns.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering. A Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with exposure to energy infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., Plaxis, GeoStudio, SLOPE/W).
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Experience with site investigation techniques and laboratory testing procedures.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings clearly.
