Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join their client’s operations team in Rustenburg. The role focuses on stability and safety of mining and energy infrastructure, including foundation designs and earthworks, with frequent site visits.

You will conduct site investigations, analyze soil and rock mechanics, prepare detailed reports, and provide recommended solutions for challenging projects. The position supports construction teams and monitoring programs across the North West

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field.
Minimum 6 years of experience in geotechnical investigations and analysis, preferably in mining or energy sectors.
Proficiency in geotechnical software for analysis and modeling and strong understanding of soil/rock mechanics.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute geotechnical investigations, including drilling, sampling and in-situ testing.
Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to assess slope stability, bearing capacity and settlement potential.
Prepare detailed geotechnical reports with recommendations for foundation design, earthworks and ground improvement.
Provide technical support to project teams during construction, ensuring adherence to design specifications.
Monitor ground conditions and assess risks associated with mining activities and energy infrastructure development.
Develop and implement geotechnical monitoring programs for ongoing projects.

About the Role
