Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their mining and energy infrastructure team in Rustenburg. You will lead site investigations, analyze soil and rock mechanics, and deliver engineering solutions to ensure the stability of foundations, slopes, and underground excavations.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering with 10+ years in mining/energy, and be proficient in PLAXIS and SLOPE/W.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of geotechnical experience in mining/energy.
• Expertise in foundation design and slope stability.
• Proficiency with PLAXIS, SLOPE/W or similar.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee geotechnical investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock properties to assess bearing capacity, settlement, and slope stability.
• Design foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks for mining and energy facilities.
• Provide expert advice on ground improvement techniques and mitigation of geotechnical risks.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports and recommendations for project stakeholders.

This role is crucial for assessing and managing ground conditions related to mining and energy infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for conducting detailed site investigations, analyzing soil and rock mechanics, and providing engineering solutions to ensure the stability and safety of foundations, slopes, and underground excavations. The successful candidate will lead geotechnical investigations and contribute to the risk management of complex engineering challenges within the mining and energy sectors .

Key Responsibilities
