Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Geologist to join the exploration and appraisal team in the Welkom region. You will interpret geological and geophysical data to identify hydrocarbon prospects, contribute to geological modeling, risk assessment, and strategic decisions for exploration and development in the Oil & Gas sector.

You will work with cutting-edge technology, build detailed geological models, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive asset growth in the Free State.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geology or related Earth Science.
• Minimum 6 years of exploration geology experience, preferably in Oil & Gas.
• Proficiency with geological modeling tools, especially Petrel and Kingdom Suite.

Responsibilities

• Interpret seismic, well data, and core information to build geological models.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Geologist to join their exploration and appraisal team, focusing on new ventures and existing asset growth in the Welkom region. This role involves the interpretation of geological and geophysical data to identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon prospects. You will play a key role in geological modeling, risk assessment, and contributing to strategic decisions regarding exploration and development activities within the Oil & Gas industry. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute to the discovery and delineation of valuable subsurface resources in the Free State.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret seismic, well log, and core data to build detailed geological models.
• Identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon prospects and play concepts.
• Perform geological risk assessments and contribute to resource estimation.
• Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers to integrate disciplines.
• Prepare technical reports, maps, and presentations for exploration reviews and decision-making processes.
• Stay abreast of new geological concepts, technologies, and industry best practices in exploration.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in exploration geology, preferably within the Oil & Gas sector.
• Proficiency with geological modeling and interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and petroleum systems.
• Experience with seismic interpretation and well data analysis.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for cross-functional collaboration.
