Placements24 is seeking an ambitious Geologist to join our exploration and resource definition team near Stellenbosch. The role involves field mapping, sampling, core logging, and data analysis to identify mineral deposits and support resource estimation.

You will work with senior geologists and mine planners in a hybrid setup that balances field exploration with office-based analysis, offering opportunities for professional growth within a reputable mining organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology or a related geoscience discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in mineral exploration or resource geology.
• Familiarity with geological modeling software (Leapfrog, Vulcan) and GIS tools.
• Understanding of mineral deposit types relevant to the region and their exploration techniques.
• Strong field skills, including mapping and sampling methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geological fieldwork, including mapping, prospecting, and geochemical sampling.
• Log drill core and assay results, interpreting geological controls on mineralization.
• Assist in the development and validation of 3D geological models using specialized software.
• Contribute to resource estimation studies and the reporting of Mineral Resources.
• Collaborate with the exploration team on target generation and drill program planning.
• Maintain accurate geological databases and contribute to technical reporting.
