Job summary

Codematch in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join the finance team. The role focuses on robust financial controls, accurate reporting and efficient accounting processes across general accounting, reconciliations, journals, budgeting and audit support, while guiding internal stakeholders.

The successful candidate will contribute to monthly closes, variance analysis, budgeting and audit liaison, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and strong internal controls

Qualifications

• Analytical mindset with ability to interpret financial data.
• Proven experience in financial reporting and accounting processes.
• Strong Excel proficiency with financial modelling capabilities.
• Experience with reconciliations, journals and GL accounting.
• Exposure to audit processes (internal or external).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor effective financial controls, policies and procedures.
• Perform general accounting duties accurately and within deadlines.
• Complete monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Analyse financial information to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Prepare and review financial reports for management reporting.
• Investigate discrepancies and respond to financial queries.
• Process monthly journals with accurate GL allocations.
• Assist with budgets and identify cost-efficiency opportunities.
• Support the audit process and respond to audit queries on time.
• Identify risks and strengthen financial processes and controls.
• Ensure expenses are allocated to the General Ledger accurately.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve financial queries.
