Job summary

Network Finance is seeking a Financial Controller to own the accounting records and financial reporting across multiple entities within the South African financial services sector. The role collaborates with senior finance leadership to ensure accurate and complete financial information supporting strategic objectives.

You will oversee controls, reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, taxation, audit processes, treasury functions, and MI, while mentoring finance staff.

Qualifications

• BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification.
• Completed articles would be advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years’ accounting experience post articles.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and reporting standards.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, audit preparation, and taxation.

Responsibilities

• Review and maintain accounting records to ensure accuracy, validity, and completeness.
• Prepare and review complex reconciliations, balance sheet schedules, and financial records.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, budgets, and levels of authority.
• Review fixed asset registers, payroll information, and intercompany transactions.
• Prepare and analyse management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and executive reporting.
• Develop and maintain management information reporting templates.
• Manage cash flow reporting and support treasury and financial soundness requirements.
• Review VAT, income tax submissions, and associated tax computations.
• Ensure audit readiness and coordinate information requests from auditors.
• Prepare annual financial statements and support year-end reporting requirements.
• Lead and participate in special projects and strategic finance initiatives.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to junior finance team members.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• BCom Accounting, BCompt Accounting, or equivalent accounting qualification.
• Completed articles would be advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in an accounting role following articles, or extensive experience within a finance and accounting environment.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and reporting standards.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, audit preparation, and taxation.
• Proficiency in Sage X3, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
