Placements24 is seeking a Senior Financial Controller in Soweto, Gauteng. This office-based role requires overseeing all accounting and financial reporting, with emphasis on month-/year-end closes, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.

The successful candidate will guide the finance team, ensure compliance, and support strategic financial decisions. Strong IFRS/GAAP knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and leadership abilities are essential.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification (CA(SA), ACCA or CIMA) or a Master's in Accounting/Finance.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting/financial control experience.
• Solid IFRS/GAAP knowledge and strong reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations including GL, AP and AR.
• Lead month-end and year-end closes with accurate reporting.
• Prepare and analyze monthly/ quarterly/ annual financial statements under IFRS/GAAP.
• Develop annual budgets and periodic forecasts; provide strategic insights.
• Establish robust internal controls and coordinate with external auditors.

About the Role

Our client, a growing financial services group, is seeking a highly competent Senior Financial Controller to manage their financial operations in Soweto, Gauteng, ZA . Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS).
• Develop and manage the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
• Coordinate with external auditors and facilitate the annual audit process.
• Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations and statutory requirements.
• Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements in financial operations.

Requirements
