Job summary

Groupe CFAO is seeking a Field Service Technician (M/F) to service, repair and maintain material handling equipment at customer sites in Africa, South Africa. The role requires hands-on expertise with forklifts and related systems, and involves diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and updating service records.

Candidates should have a trade qualification and at least 5 years of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical experience.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification and forklift experience required.
• Minimum of 5 years mechanical, hydraulic and electrical experience with forklifts.
• General knowledge of auto electrical systems (ignition, starting, charging, illumination).

Responsibilities

• Servicing of material handling equipment and ensuring forklift readiness.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and communicate repairs to customers or supervisor.
• Maintain vehicle maintenance history and update records in the system.
• Ensure OHSACT compliance on all worksites and maintain a safe work environment.
• Provide polite, professional customer service and clear communication with workshop staff and customers.

The purpose of this position is to maintain, service and repair material handling equipment, systems and products on company premises in a timely and cost-effective manner so that customer and company requirements are met; maintaining of vehicle records.

Key Performance Areas:
(Essential Duties & Responsibilities)

• Servicing of material handling equipment.
• Maintaining forklift serviceability to specified standards and according to set procedures by delivering quality service / maintenance.
• Perform accurate diagnosis / troubleshooting in event of breakdown of equipment.
• Communicate what repairs are needed by advising customer and/or supervisor.
• Maintains vehicle maintenance and operational data / history by updating and timeously communication information that must go on record.
• Provide complete customer satisfaction in a polite and professional manner.
• Ensure proper communication between self, workshop staff (supervisor and controller) and customer.
• Ensure OHSACT requirements are met in all actions on company and client premises.
• Maintains a safe work environment by verifying vehicle safety device operations.
• Follow standards and procedures and in general complying with legal regulation.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

Profile

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills Education / Training and Experience Requirement(s):

• Trade Qualification, plus experience with forklifts or similar material handling equipment; or Qualified Forklift Mechanic.
• Minimum of 5 years mechanical, hydraulic and electrical experience pertaining to forklifts
• General working knowledge of auto electrical systems (ignition, starting, charging, illumination)

• Code 8 / EB driver's license
