Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Field Service Technician to support operations in and around George, Western Cape. You will install, calibrate, maintain, diagnose, and repair complex industrial equipment at customer sites, ensuring uptime and performance.

You will travel regionally as required, read technical manuals, and provide on-site training and guidance to customer personnel. A driver’s license and strong customer-service approach are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and calibrate a wide range of industrial equipment according to manufacturer specifications and client requirements.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections to identify and address potential issues before they lead to breakdowns.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system failures on-site.
• Respond promptly to service calls and emergency breakdowns, providing efficient and effective solutions.
• Conduct thorough testing and performance checks post-repair to ensure full operational functionality.
• Maintain detailed service reports, documenting all work performed, parts used, and recommendations for future maintenance.
• Provide technical guidance and training to customer personnel on the operation and maintenance of equipment.
• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and environmental regulations.
• Manage parts inventory and service vehicle logistics effectively.

Requirements

• Proven experience (minimum 4 years) as a Field Service Technician or similar role, with a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex industrial machinery issues effectively.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and testing equipment relevant to industrial automation and machinery.
• Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean criminal record.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively to meet service commitments in the George area.
