Job summary

Epiroc Middelburg is seeking a Field Service Technician to provide on-site technical support for drilling equipment, automation systems and remote-control tech. You will perform preventive maintenance, fault finding and repairs, while building strong customer relationships and mentoring client staff.

Travel to customer sites, ensure safety compliance and contribute to continuous improvements. The role emphasizes hands-on field service in a demanding mining environment, with focus on equipment

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years' mining industry field service experience.
  • Expertise with Surface Rotary Blasthole Drills and SmartROC, FlexiROC DM series and Pit Viper rigs.
  • Experience troubleshooting Remote Control Systems (RCS) and GPS technology.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent customer service and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized technical support, maintenance and repair on Epiroc drilling equipment and automation technologies.
  • Perform scheduled services, inspections, breakdown repairs and fault-finding with root-cause analysis.
  • Build strong customer relationships and advise on equipment performance and maintenance practices.
  • Coach customers and personnel in operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of drilling equipment.
  • Collaborate with Product Company engineering teams, provide feedback and test contributions.
  • Support continuous improvement projects to enhance reliability, productivity and automation.
  • Promote aftermarket products and services and assist with spare parts enquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ requirements and maintain vehicles and tools in safe condition.

What you'll do

  • Provide specialized technical support, maintenance and repair services on Epiroc drilling equipment, automation technologies and Remote-Control Systems (RCS), ensuring maximum equipment availability and performance.
  • Perform scheduled services, inspections, breakdown repairs and advanced fault-finding activities, including root cause analysis and implementation of sustainable corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships by delivering professional technical support and acting as a trusted advisor on equipment performance, maintenance practices and operational improvements.
  • Coach and support Epiroc personnel and customer employees in the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of drilling equipment, automation systems and associated technologies.
  • Collaborate with Product Company engineering teams by providing technical feedback, participating in testing activities and contributing to product improvements and innovation initiatives.
  • Support continuous improvement projects by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability, productivity, efficiency and automation performance.
  • Promote Epiroc aftermarket products and services while supporting spare parts enquiries and inventory-related activities that contribute to customer success and business growth.
  • Ensure compliance with Epiroc and customer SHEQ requirements while maintaining company vehicles, tools and equipment in a safe, professional and serviceable condition.

What you'll bring

  • Minimum 4 years' experience within the mining industry, with strong exposure to drilling equipment maintenance, fault-finding and field service support.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of Surface Rotary Blasthole Drills, including SmartROC, FlexiROC DM series and Pit Viper drill rigs.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and supporting Remote Control Systems (RCS), automation technologies and high-precision GPS systems.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic diagnostic skills, with the ability to resolve complex equipment issues in demanding operational environments.
  • Excellent customer service, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and provide technical guidance.
  • Strong planning, organizational and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and technical reporting.
  • Valid driver's licence, willingness to travel extensively, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
