Job summary

Weir Minerals South Africa Proprietary Limited is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform on-site pumps refurbishment and maintenance in the Western Cape. You will travel to client sites, execute service and repair tasks, and communicate faults and corrective actions directly with customers.

The role requires a trade qualification as an Artisan (Fitter or Millwright), Matric/Grade 12 or N3 with engineering subjects, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 or N3 including Physical/Engineering Science and Mathematics.
• Qualified Artisan (Fitter or Millwright) with relevant trade test.
• N4 qualification in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate zero-harm safety commitment on site.
• Refurbish pumps and other Weir equipment to OEM standards.
• Provide on-site service, including repair, troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Inform customers of faults and advise on corrective steps.
• Identify opportunities on site to support growth and customer satisfaction.
• Perform prescriptive maintenance to ensure reliability and efficiency.

What you’ll do

• Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.
• Equipment Refurbishment: Perform refurbishment of pumps and all other Weir equipment to OEM standards, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
• On-site Service: Conduct service-related duties on client sites, including repair services of pump units, daily troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
• Customer Communication: Inform customers of any faults or damages on pumps, advising on necessary corrective steps to resolve issues effectively.
• Business Growth: Identify opportunities on site and liaise with the Field Service Supervisor to support business growth and customer satisfaction.
• Maintenance Execution: Perform prescriptive-based maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

What you’ll bring

• Must-haves: Matric/Grade 12 or N3 qualification (with Physical/Engineering Science & Mathematics).
• Qualified Artisan (Fitter or Millwright).
• Valid Driver’s license.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office.
• Nice-to-haves: N4 qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
