Job summary

Weir Minerals in Johannesburg is seeking a Project Manager to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring client specifications, timelines and budgets are met.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage schedules and costs, and engage with clients on technical and commercial matters while upholding high safety and quality standards. Occasional travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • BSc/BTech in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of project management experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities with excellent communication.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire project lifecycle from hand-over to delivery, ensuring data packs and O&M manuals meet client specifications, timelines and budgets.
  • Engage with clients on technical and commercial matters, providing regular project status updates.
  • Coordinate with internal product specialists, sales teams, and regional branches to support transport and commissioning activities and drive schedules.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, conduct post-project negotiations, and ensure adherence to HSE standards.
  • Travel to client sites or regional offices as needed to support delivery and coordination.
  • Demonstrate commitment to zero-harm safety culture in daily operations.

What You’ll Do
  • Project Management: Manage the entire project lifecycle from internal hand‑over to customer delivery, ensuring all deliverables such as Data packs and O&M manuals meet client specifications, timelines, and budgets.
  • Technical and Commercial Engagement: Engage proactively with clients on technical and commercial matters, maintaining clear communication and providing regular project status updates.
  • Team Coordination: Collaborate with internal product specialists, sales teams, and regional branches to support transport and commissioning activities. Drive project schedules and coordinate resources to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, conduct post‑project negotiations, and ensure adherence to HSE and housekeeping standards.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required to client sites or regional offices to support project delivery and coordination.
  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviours in support of our drive towards developing a world‑class safety culture.
What You’ll Bring
Must‑haves:
  • BSc/B Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of project management experience in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organisational skills with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Nice‑to‑have(s):
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management qualification.
