Job summary

Weir Minerals in Johannesburg is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to lead end-to-end project delivery in a multi-disciplinary mining context. You will liaise with clients on technical and commercial matters, coordinate internal teams, and ensure projects meet scope, timelines and budgets.

The role requires a BSc/B Tech in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and at least five years of PM experience, with strong ERP and MS Office skills. Onsite work with occasional travel is expected.

Qualifications

BSc/B Tech in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field.
Minimum of five years project management experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

Project Management: Manage the entire project lifecycle from internal hand-over to customer delivery, ensuring all deliverables meet client specifications, timelines, and budgets.
Technical and Commercial Engagement: Act as the primary liaison with clients on technical and commercial matters, ensuring clear communication and contract compliance.
Team Coordination: Coordinate transport, commissioning, and technical support with internal product specialists, sales teams and regional branches.
Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, conduct post-project negotiations and close-outs, and ensure adherence to HSE standards.
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to client sites or regional offices to support delivery.

What You’ll Do

Project Management: Manage the entire project lifecycle from internal hand-over to customer delivery, ensuring all deliverables such as Data packs and O&M manuals meet client specifications, timelines, and budgets. Success means projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
Technical and Commercial Engagement: Act as the primary liaison with clients on technical and commercial matters, ensuring clear communication and compliance with contract terms. Provide regular project status updates and manage risks effectively.
Team Coordination: Collaborate with internal product specialists, sales teams, and regional branches to coordinate transport, commissioning, and technical support, driving projects to meet agreed schedules.
Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, conduct post-project negotiations and close-outs, and ensure adherence to HSE and housekeeping standards.
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required to client sites or regional offices to support project delivery and coordination.

What You’ll Bring

Must-haves:

BSc/B Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field.
Minimum of five years project management experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Nice-to-have(s):

PMP certification or equivalent project management qualification.
