Job summary

Weir HBF (Pty) Ltd in Port Elizabeth is seeking an Engineer Shift Leader to manage the maintenance team onsite. The role focuses on planning, repairs, and preventive maintenance to keep production running efficiently.

You will lead preventive maintenance programs, manage schedules, and ensure critical spares availability while maintaining high SHE standards.

Qualifications

• Qualified Artisan – Electrician or Millwright with 5–7 years of foundry experience.
• Supervisory and leadership experience required.
• Sound SHE knowledge and related training.
• HT (High Tension) electrical experience and training preferred.
• Valid Driver's License is mandatory.
• Nice-to-have: Supervisor Training/Qualification.

Responsibilities

• Lead the maintenance team to plan and perform repairs and preventive maintenance smoothly.
• Oversee equipment schedules and ensure critical spares availability.
• Ensure activities comply with OSHACT, SANS 10142 and safety standards.
• Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance needs and safety issues.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and zero-harm culture.

What you'll do

• Team Leadership: Manage the entire maintenance team, overseeing daily operations to ensure efficient planning, repairs, and maintenance activities. Success means a well-coordinated team delivering high-quality maintenance with minimal downtime.
• Maintenance Management: Lead preventive maintenance programs, manage equipment schedules, and ensure critical spares availability to maintain operational excellence. Daily tasks include monitoring maintenance workflows and troubleshooting issues.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHACT, SANS 10142, and company safety standards. Travel may be required occasionally to support other site operations or training.
• Collaboration and Support: Work closely with other departments to address maintenance needs, maintain safe working conditions, and provide operational support including overtime when necessary.
