Job summary

Weir HBF (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Crane Operator in Port Elizabeth to operate machines and overhead cranes onsite, following safety instructions and PPE rules. You will load and unload parts, deburr edges, and assist machinists while maintaining a strong safety mindset.

Ideal candidates have Matric, crane-operating experience, and the ability to read technical documents; overhead crane license is a plus. This onsite role offers a stable work environment and opportunities for growth within a global

Qualifications

• Must have Matric (Grade 12).
• Previous crane operator experience is required.
• Ability to read and interpret documents.

Responsibilities

• Operate machines/equipment following safe work instructions.
• Wear PPE and adhere to safety rules at all times.
• Safely load/unload parts on/off machine centers with an overhead crane and turn over parts.
• Deburr sharp edges and clean parts.
• Assist the machinist with clamping/unclamping parts on the machine.
• Assist the machinist with machine cleaning and swarf disposal to assigned skips.
• Demonstrate 100% commitment to zero harm and safety culture.

What you’ll do

• Operate machines / equipment in accordance with safe work instructions.
• Adhere to required protective clothing rules and ensure appropriate PPE is worn at all times.
• To safely and efficiently load and unload parts on/off machine centers with an overhead crane, including the turning over the part.
• Deburring of sharp edges and the cleaning of the parts.
• Assist the machinist with clamping and unclamping parts on the machine.
• Assist the machinist with the cleaning of the machine, including the removal of swarf and transfer thereof to the designated skips.
• Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.

What you’ll bring

• Must-haves: Matric (Grade 12).
• Previous experience as a crane operator.
• Ability to read and interpret documents.
• Nice-to-have(s): Valid overhead crane license.
