Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Field Service Engineer to be based in Tembisa, Gauteng. This role focuses on hands-on installation, maintenance, and repair of specialized industrial equipment at client sites, ensuring peak performance and reliability.

You will be the primary technical contact, traveling within Gauteng and providing fast, effective solutions. The position requires strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Field Service Engineer or similar role.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic skills.
• Technical qualification in engineering (NTC, City & Guilds).
• Willingness to travel within Gauteng.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site installation, calibration, and commissioning of new equipment.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and software issues on-site.
• Provide technical support and training to client personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
• Respond to emergency service calls and ensure rapid resolution of critical issues.
• Maintain accurate service reports, logs, and inventory of spare parts.
• Liaise with the engineering and customer support teams to address complex technical challenges.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company procedures during site visits.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their evolving needs.
• Adhere to strict quality control standards in all aspects of work performed.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the Gauteng region.
• Technical qualification (e.g., NTC, City & Guilds) in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa .
