Job summary

Herotel Telecoms (Pty) Ltd in Kareedouw invites applications for a hands-on Technical Assistant to support the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of fibre optic and wireless systems. You will assist Senior Technicians with site surveys, equipment mounting, CPE recovery, callout repairs and daily site upkeep.

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Good working knowledge of hand and power tools used in installations.
• A valid driver’s license is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically fit to work in various environments, heights and confined spaces.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Presentable, reliable and punctual with a proactive attitude.
• Previous experience in a technical/installation environment is advantageous.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site surveys, including signal scans and throughput tests.
• Support installations by mounting brackets and running cables under guidance.
• Perform CPE recovery and tidy work sites.
• Participate in callout repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Ensure tools and consumables are stocked in vehicles.
• Maintain cleanliness and order at job sites.
• Follow instructions and prioritise tasks from the Install team.
• Adhere to Health & Safety procedures and safety standards.
• Work independently and in teams in all weather conditions and spaces.
• Show pride in workmanship and company property.
