Job summary

Herotel Telecoms (Pty) Ltd in De Aar is seeking a hands-on Technical Assistant to support fibre optic and wireless installations, maintenance and fault finding. You will help Senior Technicians deliver safe, high-quality network work across varied environments.

You will perform site surveys, assist with mounting, cabling and CPE handling, while keeping tools organized and adhering to safety standards in all weather and confined spaces. Training is provided via our in-house academy.

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) is required.
• Basic computer literacy is required.
• Hands-on with hand and power tools is expected.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site surveys, signal scans, throughput tests, and take photos.
• Support installations by mounting brackets, running cables under supervision.
• Perform CPE recovery and tidy work sites after tasks.
• Participate in callout repairs and routine maintenance tasks.
• Keep tools and consumables organized in vehicles for daily ops.
• Maintain clean and orderly job sites and follow safety rules.
• Follow instructions from the Install team and prioritize tasks.
• Adhere to health and safety procedures at all times.
• Work independently or with the team in all conditions.
• Show pride in work, equipment, and installation quality.
