Our client, a well-established company within the special steel industry, is looking for a driven and customer-focused External & Internal Sales Representative to join their team. This is a dynamic sales role with a strong focus on external sales and business development, while also supporting internal sales activities and customer enquiries. The successful candidate will be responsible for building strong customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities and growing sales within the engineering and manufacturing market.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new customer accounts through direct customer visits.
• Build, maintain and grow strong relationships with existing customers.
• Conduct cold calling and business development activities.
• Generate new leads through phone, email, social media and other channels.
• Visit customers and identify new sales opportunities.
• Provide weekly call reports, including customer feedback and market intelligence.
• Identify market demand and provide recommendations on material grades and sizes to stock.
• Promote new product lines into new markets and sectors.
• Maintain a high level of customer service throughout the sales process.
• Achieve agreed turnover and gross profit targets.
• Handle incoming sales enquiries and customer calls.
• Provide quotations with guidance from technical specialists where required.
• Process steel sales and assist with stock management.
• Assist walk-in customers with product and technical enquiries.
• Process card/EFT sales and compile daily cash sales reports.
• Monitor customer demand and assist with stock ordering.
• Perform buy-outs and assist with booking in new stock.
• Maintain accurate sales and customer records.
• 3–5 years' sales experience.
• At least 2 years' external sales or business development experience with a proven track record.
• Experience combining internal and external sales will be advantageous.
• Previous experience within the engineering, manufacturing, steel or related industry is preferred.
• Experience working with an ERP or CRM system will be advantageous.
• Proficient in MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Good numerical and arithmetic skills.
• Able to perform basic weight and volume calculations.
• Strong quotation, customer service and administration skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional appearance and confident customer-facing ability.
• Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport will be advantageous.
