Job summary

Greys Recruitment is seeking an Export Tally Clerk for our Johannesburg-based shipping/ export operations. The role focuses on accurate tallying, recording and monitoring of minerals and metals throughout loading, dispatch and movement processes.

Ideal candidates will have Matric, shipping experience, strong numerical and record-keeping skills, and the ability to work under pressure while ensuring precise documentation and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Matric / Grade 12 is required.
• Previous shipping experience is essential.
• Experience in shipping and logistics is preferred.
• Experience as a tally clerk or similar role is ideal.

Responsibilities

• Tally goods received, dispatched and loaded with accuracy.
• Record quantities, weights and product descriptions.
• Monitor movement of minerals, metals and other goods for export.
• Check cargo against documentation and loading instructions.
• Maintain tally sheets and stock records for audit purposes.

Job description

We are currently looking for someone who will be an Export Tally Clerk to join our Johannesburg-based shipping/export operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately recording, verifying, and monitoring the movement, loading, and dispatch of goods, with particular emphasis on minerals and metals.

• Matric / Grade 12.
• Previous shipping experience – essential.
• Previous experience in shipping and logistics – essential/preferred.
• Previous experience as a Tally Clerk, Export Tally Clerk, Warehouse Clerk, or similar role.
• Understanding of shipping and export processes.
• Good numerical and administrative skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be willing to work in a shipping/export environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct accurate tallying of goods received, dispatched and loaded.
• Record and verify quantities, weights and descriptions of products.
• Monitor and document the movement of minerals, metals and other goods.
• Check cargo against relevant documentation and loading instructions.
• Assist with export loading and dispatch processes.
• Maintain accurate tally sheets, stock records and related documentation.
• Identify and report discrepancies in quantities, weights or product specifications.
• Liaise with logistics, transport and export teams.
• Ensure goods are correctly identified, counted and recorded.
• Follow all company, safety and operational procedures.
• Maintain accurate records for audit and reporting purposes.
