Placements24 is seeking an Exploration Geochemist to join its expanding team in Mahikeng. You will design and manage geochemical sampling programs and interpret complex chemical data to guide mineral exploration.

The role requires a Master’s or PhD in Geochemistry/Geology and a minimum of 5 years in applied geochemistry, with proficiency in ioGAS and GCDKit. Travel and professional development opportunities are offered in a dynamic mining environment.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Exploration Geochemist to join their expanding exploration team based in Mahikeng . This role is pivotal in identifying and evaluating potential mineral deposits through the analysis of geological samples. You will design and manage geochemical sampling programs, interpret complex chemical data, and provide critical insights to guide exploration efforts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of geochemical principles, experience with various analytical techniques, and a passion for discovering new mineral resources within the challenging terrains of the mining sector .

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement geochemical sampling programs (soil, rock, stream sediment, and water) for mineral exploration.
• Collect and prepare samples for laboratory analysis, ensuring quality control and chain of custody.
• Interpret geochemical data, employing statistical methods and software to identify anomalies and exploration targets.
• Integrate geochemical data with geological, geophysical, and other exploration datasets.
• Collaborate with geologists and other exploration specialists to develop exploration models and strategies.
• Manage relationships with analytical laboratories, ensuring timely and accurate results.
• Prepare detailed geochemical reports and presentations for project stakeholders.
