Placements24 seeks an experienced Senior Geologist specializing in Exploration to join the Port Elizabeth team. Lead exploration programs, evaluate data, and define new mineral resources while guiding projects from reconnaissance to detailed exploration phases.

The ideal candidate holds an MSc or PhD in Geology (or related earth sciences) with 7+ years in mineral exploration, expertise in structural geology and deposit modeling, and proficiency in Leapfrog, Micromine, and GIS.

About the Role

You will be responsible for planning and executing exploration programs, analyzing geological data, and making informed recommendations for future drilling and resource definition. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of geological processes, excellent field skills, and the ability to manage projects from initial reconnaissance through to detailed exploration phases, working within a dynamic and challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and manage geological exploration programs, including field mapping, sampling, and drilling campaigns.

Requirements

• Proven expertise in structural geology, stratigraphy, and deposit modeling relevant to base metals or precious metals .
• Proficiency with geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Micromine) and GIS applications.
• Excellent field exploration skills and experience in diverse geological terrains.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex geological concepts effectively.
