Placements24 seeks a Lead Mine Surveyor in Bloemfontein, responsible for overseeing all mining surveying activities. You will manage a team, ensure data integrity, and support exploration, development and production with GPS, total stations, laser scanning and CAD/GIS tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum: National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mine Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
• Professional registration as a Professional Mine Surveyor (Pr.Min.Surv) or equivalent.
• At least 8 years of mine surveying experience, with underground and open-pit exposure.
• Strong knowledge of surveying software and mine modelling tools.
• Willingness to travel to mine sites and work in challenging conditions.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute surface and underground mine surveying activities with accuracy and compliance.
• Establish and maintain primary survey control networks for the operation.
• Conduct volumetric calculations for stockpiles and tailings facilities.
• Provide survey data for mine planning, design, and production activities.
• Utilize equipment and software (total stations, GPS, laser scanners, CAD, GIS, mine modelling).
• Process and interpret survey data ensuring data integrity.
• Prepare survey plans, maps, and reports for internal use and regulatory submissions.
• Supervise, train, and mentor junior surveyors and technicians.
• Ensure adherence to survey standards, regulations, and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and operations personnel for timely support.
• Implement QA/QC procedures for surveying.
• Advise on new surveying technologies and methodologies.
