Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer for the Port Elizabeth area to lead underground mine planning and operations. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and productivity, with responsibility for developing mine plans, coordinating resources, and driving continuous improvement.

You will mentor engineers and collaborate with geology, surveying, and maintenance teams to ensure integrated operations in a major Eastern Cape project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine operations.
• Experience with underground mining methods and best practices.
• Proficiency in mine planning software: Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in mining.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage short-term and long-term mine operational plans.
• Optimize production processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance safety.
• Supervise and mentor a team of mining engineers, supervisors, and operational staff.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to safety protocols and operational standards.
• Manage mining equipment and resources effectively to meet production targets.
• Collaborate with other departments, including geology, surveying, and maintenance, to ensure integrated operations.
