Internal / Key Accounts Broker – Short-Term Insurance
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail‑oriented Internal / Key Accounts Broker to manage a portfolio of existing clients through proactive underwriting, client service and administrative support.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years underwriting experience, preferably within a brokerage environment, with experience in both personal and commercial lines insurance. This is an office‑based/inbound role and does not involve external client visits.
Remuneration
- Competitive basic salary depending on experience and qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12).
- RE5 certification compulsory.
- NQF Level 4 qualification in Financial Services would be advantageous.
- Minimum 2 years underwriting experience.
- Experience in both personal and commercial lines underwriting.
- Strong interpersonal, administrative and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned portfolio of approximately 300 clients.
- Maintain proactive communication with clients to understand their insurance needs.
- Deliver high levels of service and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor and follow up on unpaid premiums.
- Liaise with clients and insurers to resolve outstanding payment issues.
Policy Renewals & Retentions
- Proactively manage policy renewals and ensure policies are reviewed, updated and renewed timeously.
- Prepare and present renewal terms and alternative options.
- Conduct risk assessments and portfolio reviews.
Policy Endorsements & Amendments
- Process policy endorsements accurately and efficiently.
- Manage changes to cover, asset details and client information.
- Maintain accurate records in line with underwriting requirements.
- Conduct general underwriting duties, including risk assessments and rating.
- Provide competitive quotations for new business opportunities within the existing portfolio.
- Source and compare quotations from multiple insurers where required to ensure appropriate cover and pricing.
Client Engagement
- Conduct a minimum of 25 client consultations per day via Zoom or telephone.
- Discuss policy details, renewals, endorsements and cover adjustments.
- Provide professional guidance on cover options, excess structures, policy terms and risk exposures.
Additional Duties
- Manage policy cancellations, including conducting exit interviews and exploring retention opportunities.
- Coordinate tracking device installations where required for vehicle insurance.
- Arrange valuation services where required to ensure adequate sums insured.
- Process refunds accurately and timeously.
- Maintain compliance with applicable legislative and regulatory requirements.

Insurance Partners You’ll Work With:
You will interact with leading insurers, including:
- 70% Key Account Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and decision‑makers
- Manage and grow existing accounts, identifying opportunities for increased revenue
- Drive customer retention and ensure a consistently high level of service delivery
- Act as the key point of contact for customer queries, escalations and service‑related matters
- Work closely with operations to resolve issues and improve the customer experience
- Monitor account performance, volumes and profitability
- Identify and maximise growth opportunities within existing accounts
- 30% New Business Development: Identify, prospect and secure new customers within the courier, logistics and transport market
- Develop new business opportunities through networking, referrals, cold calling and market engagement
- Prepare quotations and proposals and assist with commercial negotiations
- Build a strong pipeline of prospective customers and convert opportunities into new revenue
