Job summary

Weir Minerals South Africa Proprietary Limited is seeking a CI Engineer in Johannesburg (Alrode) for onsite delivery of continuous improvement across the value chain. You will lead Lean initiatives, develop data-driven insights, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency and safety.

The role requires 3–5 years of CI experience, strong Power Platform reporting skills, and SAP knowledge as a plus. Onsite work arrangement and travel within the region may be involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and proven Lean experience.
• 3–5 years leading continuous improvement programs incl. VSM, RCA, TPM and Six Sigma.
• Strong dashboard and reporting skills with Microsoft Power Platform.
• SAP knowledge is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute continuous improvement programs across the value chain.
• Manage the WINS framework adoption within the EMEA region for excellence.
• Analyze data to identify trends and deliver high-quality reports.

What you’ll do

• Continuous Improvement Execution: Lead and execute continuous improvement programs across the business value chain network, ensuring alignment with organisational strategic goals.
• WINS Framework Management: Manage and enhance the adoption of the Weir Integrated Network System (WINS) framework within the EMEA region to drive operational excellence.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Utilize data analysis techniques to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement, delivering high-quality reports and presentations both orally and in writing.
• Daily Role Focus: Apply Lean tools and methodologies daily to improve processes, facilitate problem-solving sessions, and support cross-functional teams in achieving efficiency gains.
• Success Metrics: Achieve measurable improvements in process efficiency, cost management, and problem resolution, contributing to the overall strategic objectives of the organisation.
• Travel Requirements: Occasional travel within the EMEA region may be required to support continuous improvement initiatives and stakeholder engagement.

What you’ll bring

Must-haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or a related field with proven experience in Lean tools and methodologies.
• 3–5 years’ experience leading continuous improvement programs in an enterprise environment, including Value Stream Mapping, RCA, Cost Management, TPM, Problem Solving, and Six Sigma projects.
• Strong capability in creating dashboards and visually interactive reports using the Microsoft Power Platform.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems; SAP knowledge is an added advantage.

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience working within the mining or heavy engineering sectors.
• Familiarity with regional operational challenges in the EMEA market.
• Advanced skills in data visualization and business intelligence tools beyond Microsoft Power Platform.
• Previous exposure to managing cross-functional teams and driving cultural change initiatives.
