Job summary

Weir in Johannesburg, Alrode, is seeking a CI Engineer to lead continuous improvement initiatives within the EMEA region. You will apply Lean tools to optimise processes, build dashboards with the Power Platform, and drive cost management and efficiency gains across value streams.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in CI with experience in VSM, RCA, Six Sigma, and ERP systems. Onsite role with occasional travel; join a global leader in sustainable mining technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering with Lean tools knowledge.
• 3–5 years’ experience leading continuous improvement programs including VSM, RCA, cost management, TPM, problem solving, Six Sigma.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute continuous improvement programs across the value chain.
• Manage and enhance WINS framework adoption in the EMEA region.
• Use data analysis to identify trends and present high-quality reports.

What you’ll do

• Continuous Improvement Execution: Lead and execute continuous improvement programs across the business value chain network, ensuring alignment with organisational strategic goals.
• WINS Framework Management: Manage and enhance the adoption of the Weir Integrated Network System (WINS) framework within the EMEA region to drive operational excellence.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Utilize data analysis techniques to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement, delivering high-quality reports and presentations both orally and in writing.
• Daily Role Focus: Apply Lean tools and methodologies daily to improve processes, facilitate problem-solving sessions, and support cross-functional teams in achieving efficiency gains.
• Success Metrics: Achieve measurable improvements in process efficiency, cost management, and problem resolution, contributing to the overall strategic objectives of the organisation.
• Travel Requirements: Occasional travel within the EMEA region may be required to support continuous improvement initiatives and stakeholder engagement.

What You’ll Bring

Must-haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or a related field with proven experience in Lean tools and methodologies.
• 3–5 years’ experience leading continuous improvement programs in an enterprise environment, including Value Stream Mapping, RCA, Cost Management, TPM, Problem Solving, and Six Sigma projects.
• Strong capability in creating dashboards and visually interactive reports using the Microsoft Power Platform.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems; SAP knowledge is an added advantage.

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience working within the mining or heavy engineering sectors.
• Familiarity with regional operational challenges in the EMEA market.
• Advanced skills in data visualization and business intelligence tools beyond Microsoft Power Platform.
• Previous exposure to managing cross-functional teams and driving cultural change initiatives.
