Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Northern Cape, Postmasburg, is seeking an Engine Workshop/Field Service Technician - Apprentice to join the Distribution Business Segment.

The role supports workshop operations, learns standard repair techniques, and contributes to documentation and tool care in a hands-on environment. The apprentice will develop mechanical and electrical repair skills, gain exposure to diagnostic workflows, and travel as required to service customers.

Qualifications

• National Senior Certificate (Matric) with grade 12
• N6 Mechanical Engineering certificate with four subjects in Math, Mechanotechnics, Mechanical Drawing and Design, Power Machines, Fluid Mechanics, Physics, Strength of Materials, Supervisory Management
• N2/N3 Engineering studies certificate with Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing, Diesel Trade Theory/Motor Trade Theory

Responsibilities

• Support Workshop Operations and assist with general workshop activities
• Maintain cleanliness, inspect, and disassemble to support safe, organized work areas
• Learn and apply standard repair techniques and repair basic mechanical/electrical components
• Assist with documentation such as work completed forms and time sheets
• Develop skills through on-the-job training aligned with business needs
• Care for tools and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for use
• Adhere to Health, Safety & Environmental policies to maintain a safe workplace
• Report issues or incidents to supervisor to aid continuous improvement
