Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Northern Cape, South Africa, invites applications for an Engine Workshop/Field Service Technician - Apprentice. You will support workshop operations, assist with repairs and maintenance of diesel engines and generators, and learn through hands-on training in a real-world service environment.

You will develop diagnostic skills, document work performed, and comply with health and safety policies while traveling locally as required.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in repairing and maintaining mechanical/electrical products.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and safe work procedures.
• Ability to translate customer issues into diagnostics and document results.
• Valid driver's license with regular driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Support Workshop Operations: assist with general workshop activities to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintain Cleanliness and Order: clean, inspect, and disassemble as needed for safety and efficiency.
• Master Repair Techniques: learn SRTs and follow procedures for basic repairs and maintenance.
• Accurate Documentation: assist with work completed forms and time sheets for records.
• Skill Development: complete training aligned with skills and business requirements.
• Tool and Equipment Care: maintain cleanliness and proper operation of tools.
• Health and Safety Compliance: follow HSE policies to maintain a safe workplace.
• Proactive Reporting: report issues to supervisor for continuous improvement.
