Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking an Engine Workshop/Field Service Technician apprentice to support workshop and field service activities in Mpumalanga, including Steelpoort, Ogies, Tweefontein and Middelburg.

The role emphasizes learning engine repair, diagnostics, and proper documentation in a hands-on training path. Successful candidates will have a national senior certificate (matric) and plumbing of N6/N2/N3 certificates in mechanical engineering, with a willingness to travel as required.

Qualifications

• NSC/Matric with Grade 12.
• N6 Mechanical Engineering with 4 subjects including Maths/Mechanotechnics/Mechanical Drawing or related subjects.
• N2/N3 Engineering studies with core subjects like Mathematics, Engineering Science, Diesel/ Motor Theory.

Responsibilities

• Support workshop operations and assist with general activities.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the workshop and disassemble/inspect components.
• Learn repair techniques and standard repair times to perform basic repairs.
• Assist with documentation such as work completed forms and time sheets.
• Participate in training aligned with skill and business requirements.
• Care for tools and equipment to ensure readiness and longevity.
• Adhere to Health and Safety policies and Environmental guidelines.
• Proactively report issues to supervisor for continuous improvement.
