Cummins Inc. is seeking an Engine Workshop/Field Service Technician - Apprentice in Kathu, Northern Cape, South Africa. You will support workshop operations, assist with diagnostics, and learn to repair engines and power generators in a safety-conscious environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on learning, adherence to SRTs and procedures, and documentation of work. Local travel may be required, with on-site duties and training aligned to Cummins standards.

Qualifications

• NSC/Matric with Grade 12
• N6 Mechanical Engineering with four subjects including Maths/Mechanotechnics/Mechanical Drawing
• N2/N3 Engineering Studies with Maths and Engineering subjects

Responsibilities

• Assist with general workshop activities to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintain cleanliness, inspection, disassembly, and repair of components for safety and efficiency.
• Learn Standard Repair Times (SRTs) and follow procedures for basic repairs and maintenance.
• Assist with documentation like work completed forms and timesheets for accurate records.
• Complete training aligned with skill and business requirements to enhance capabilities.
• Care for tools and equipment and ensure they are ready for use.
• Adhere to Health, Safety & Environmental policies to maintain a safe workplace.
• Report issues or incidents to supervisor to support continuous improvement.
