Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Johannesburg, Gauteng, is seeking an Engine Workshop/Field Service Technician - Apprentice to join our service team.

You will support workshop operations, learn repair techniques, and help maintain safe, organized work environments while developing skills on power generators and engines. This apprenticeship emphasizes hands-on training, documentation accuracy, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies.

Qualifications

• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with matriculation grade 12.
• N6 (Nated) Mechanical Engineering certificate with 4 subjects.
• N2 or N3 (Nated) Engineering studies with Mathematics/Engineering subjects.

Responsibilities

• Support Workshop Operations with general activities.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the workshop.
• Learn Standard Repair Times (SRTs) and perform basic repairs and maintenance.
• Assist with documentation such as forms and timesheets.
• Complete training aligned with skill and business requirements.
• Care for tools and equipment to ensure readiness and longevity.
• Adhere to Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures.
• Report issues or incidents to supervisor for continuous improvement.
