Placements24 is assisting a forward‑looking energy technology company in Paarl to recruit an Energy Storage Systems Integration Specialist. The role covers design, integration, commissioning and optimization of BESS for grid and renewables.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor's in Electrical or Computer Engineering (Master's preferred), 5+ years in energy storage design and commissioning, and strong knowledge of Li‑ion chemistries, power electronics, control systems, and grid interconnection

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking energy technology company, is seeking an expert Energy Storage Systems Integration Specialist to join their team in Paarl, Western Cape . This role is fundamental to the successful deployment and operation of advanced battery energy storage systems (BESS) integrated with renewable energy projects and the grid. You will be responsible for the technical design, system integration, commissioning, and ongoing performance optimization of BESS solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of battery chemistries, power electronics, control systems, and grid interconnection standards. A strong understanding of the renewable energy market and project lifecycles is essential. This is a pivotal role for an individual passionate about innovative energy solutions and contributing to a more resilient and sustainable energy future. The position requires on-site work in Paarl, Western Cape , involving close collaboration with engineering and site teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and system integration of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for utility-scale and distributed applications.
• Specify components, including batteries, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and control systems.

• Strong understanding of battery technologies (e.g., Li-ion), power electronics (inverters, converters), and control systems.
• Proficiency with grid interconnection standards and requirements.
• Experience with simulation software and system modeling tools.
• Familiarity with project management methodologies and fast-paced project execution.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with SCADA systems and data acquisition relevant to energy systems.
• Knowledge of safety protocols for high-voltage electrical systems is essential.
