Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a talented and ambitious Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in managing the kitchen operations of an upscale Randburg restaurant. You will contribute to menu development, oversee staff, manage inventory, and ensure health and safety compliance to uphold high kitchen standards.

The ideal candidate has proven Sous Chef experience or strong Chef de Partie background, strong culinary techniques, leadership and teamwork, and a passion for consistent, high-quality dishes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong experience as a Senior Chef de Partie in a reputable establishment.
• Solid understanding of culinary techniques, food preparation, and presentation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen management best practices.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Culinary qualification or equivalent industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
• Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing training and guidance on culinary techniques and standards.
• Ensure the highest standards of food quality, taste, and presentation for all dishes served.
• Manage inventory, control food costs, and assist with purchasing and receiving of supplies.
• Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene protocols.
• Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu development, specials, and event preparation in Randburg.
