Job summary

Smart4 Energy seeks a Professional Electrical Engineer to design, engineer, and deliver commercial and industrial Solar PV and battery energy storage projects in South Africa. You should be registered or pursuing registration with ECSA and bring 3–8 years of PV design experience.

You will work on projects from 100 kW to utility-scale, collaborating with a skilled team to ensure quality, compliance and successful handover.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• ECSA registration as PrEng or Candidate Engineer.
• 3–8 years of experience in Solar PV design and project engineering.
• Experience on projects from ~100 kW to utility-scale.
• Experience with grid-tied solar, hybrid systems and BESS.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support the design and engineering of Solar PV systems, including layouts and technical documentation.
• Support procurement, installation, commissioning, and project delivery activities.
• Ensure compliance with SANS, IEC, NRS, and municipal regulations.
• Engage with clients, utilities, municipalities, and stakeholders.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, system validation, and handover documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers and support technical development initiatives.
• Stay updated on new renewable energy technologies and opportunities for improvement.
