Job summary

Part of nGAGE Talent Limited seeks a Professionally Registered Electrical Engineer (Pr.Eng) to lead the design and development of commercial and industrial Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

You will own technical solution development, feasibility assessments, engineering design and project support across a diverse portfolio, collaborating with clients and internal teams to deliver compliant and cost-effective energy solutions from concept through implementation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.
• Proven experience designing commercial or utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, renewable energy systems and grid integration.
• Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical reports and design documentation.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and commercial stakeholders.
• A collaborative leader with a passion for engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and development of Solar PV and BESS solutions.
• Conduct feasibility studies, energy yield assessments and system modelling.
• Perform system sizing and develop technically compliant engineering solutions.
• Review engineering designs and provide professional approval prior to submission.
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, electrical regulations and grid requirements.
• Produce and review: SLDs, BOQs, equipment specs, GA drawings, cable sizing, protection philosophies.
• Support engineering teams throughout project development, construction and commissioning.
• Engage with clients, consultants, utilities, OEMs and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

An established renewable energy business is looking to appoint a Professionally Registered Electrical Engineer (Pr.Eng) to play a leading role in the design and development of commercial and industrial Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

The Opportunity

As a senior member of the engineering team, you will take ownership of technical solution development, feasibility assessments, engineering design, and project support across a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects.

You'll combine deep technical expertise with commercial awareness to develop practical, compliant and cost-effective solutions that deliver value for clients while supporting business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Technical Design

• Lead the technical design and development of Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions.
• Conduct feasibility studies, energy yield assessments and system modelling.
• Perform system sizing and develop technically compliant engineering solutions.
• Review engineering designs and provide professional approval prior to submission.
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, electrical regulations and grid requirements.

Project Development

• Produce and review:
  • Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
  • Bills of Quantities (BOQ)
  • Equipment specifications
  • General Arrangement drawings
  • Cable sizing calculations
  • Protection philosophies
• Support engineering teams throughout project development, construction and commissioning.
• Participate in design reviews, technical troubleshooting and engineering optimisation.

Client & Commercial Support

• Work closely with business development teams to develop tailored technical solutions.
• Support technical proposals, tender submissions and customer presentations.
• Engage with clients, consultants, utilities, OEMs and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Evaluate products and technologies to ensure the most appropriate technical solution for each application.

Technical Leadership

• Mentor and coach graduate and junior engineers.
• Drive engineering quality, consistency and continuous improvement.
• Support the development of engineering standards, procedures and best practices.
• Keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry developments within the renewable energy sector.

About You
