Job summary

Placements24 in Port Elizabeth seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to design electrical systems for solar and wind projects, producing single-line diagrams, schematics and layouts, and performing power system analyses such as load calculations and fault studies.

You will select components like inverters, transformers and switchgear, ensure designs comply with IEC/IEEE standards, and collaborate with project managers and site engineers to deliver on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in electrical design, renewable energy focus preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, PVSyst and ETAP.
• Solid understanding of power electronics, grid interconnection and protection schemes.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for solar and wind projects, including SLDs, schematics and layouts.
• Perform power system analysis such as load calculations and fault studies.
• Select components like inverters, transformers, switchgear and cables.
• Ensure designs comply with IEC/IEEE standards and client specifications.
• Collaborate with project managers and site engineers to deliver on schedule.
• Prepare technical specs, BOQs and design documentation; review vendor submittals.
