Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Midrand to lead the design of electrical power systems for solar, storage, and grid integration projects. The role involves developing detailed electrical diagrams, performing analyses, and coordinating with project teams to deliver robust energy solutions.

The candidate should have 4+ years in power system design, a strong grasp of grid codes, and experience with inverter/ storage systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialization.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical power system design.
• Proficiency in ETAP, PSS/E, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Strong understanding of grid interconnection standards and electrical protection principles.
• Experience with AC/DC systems, inverters and energy storage.
• Familiarity with electrical CAD tools for schematic generation.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer electrical power systems for renewable energy projects.
• Develop detailed single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Perform load flow analysis, short-circuit calculations, and protection coordination studies.
• Specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, inverters, and cables.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, national electrical codes, and client specs.
• Collaborate with project managers, procurement teams, and construction personnel to support project execution.
• Conduct technical reviews of designs and provide recommendations for optimization.
• Assist with site investigations, commissioning, and troubleshooting of installed systems.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and design documentation.
