Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Pretoria to lead electrical designs for solar PV and wind projects. You will create diagrams, perform system studies, and specify equipment, coordinating with grid operators and project teams.

The role requires strong analytical skills, SA standards knowledge, and at least 5 years of renewal energy design experience, with on-site collaboration in a dynamic team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or allied field
• At least 5 years in electrical design with renewable energy focus
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, PSS/E or similar tools
• Knowledge of SA electrical standards and grid integration principles
• Strong analytical and communication skills

Responsabilités

• Design and engineer electrical systems for PV and wind projects, including AC/DC, grid connection, and protection
• Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings using CAD software
• Perform power system studies: load flow, fault analysis, harmonic distortion
• Specify electrical equipment like inverters, transformers, switchgear, cables
• Prepare technical specifications, material lists, and tender docs
• Liaise with grid operators and regulators for connection compliance
• Conduct site visits for design verification and construction support
• Collaborate with civil and mechanical teams for integrated delivery
• Stay updated with industry standards and renewables best practices
• Contribute to supplier and contractor technical evaluations
