Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with a Renewable Energy focus to join our team in Soweto. You will design electrical systems for solar, wind, and other sustainable projects, develop single-line diagrams, schematics, and layouts, and ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards.

You will collaborate with project managers, civil engineers, and site teams, perform load calculations and power studies, and support procurement and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical design with renewable energy focus
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP)
• Strong understanding of power electronics, grid connection requirements, and protection systems
• Familiarity with power system analysis tools is an advantage
• Knowledge of codes and standards for renewable energy projects
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a project team
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer electrical systems for renewable energy projects (solar PV farms, wind installations)
• Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical layouts using CAD software
• Perform electrical load calculations, power studies, and system design analysis
• Specify electrical equipment (inverters, transformers, switchgear, cabling, protection devices)
