Job summary

NH Hotels & Resorts in Johannesburg is seeking a Meetings & Events Operations professional to manage the setup, coordination, and delivery of conference, meeting, and banquet services. You will supervise staff, coordinate catering, provide AV support, and ensure all spaces reflect NH's standards for service, presentation, and safety.

The role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to liaise with clients and internal teams to ensure flawless events from start

Responsibilities

• Always behave in a professional, respectful, positive and helpful manner with internal and external customers
• Resolve/respond to guest service problems promptly with tact and professionalism
• Set up conference, meeting and banquet rooms to hotel standards
• Ensure smooth operation of meeting/function rooms and event spaces
• Supervise and coordinate conference and catering activities
• Provide technical support for audio-visual equipment
• Prepare checklists to ensure setups meet guest requirements
• Host pre-shift meetings and briefings to align on guest needs
• Read and interpret function sheets accurately and timely
• Maintain rooms with proper set-up, including dishware, glassware, linens and amenities
• Coordinate with kitchen for timely service of courses and beverages
• Monitor beverage stock and bar requirements during events
• Follow Health and Safety practices at all times
• Know menus for each function and dietary requirements for events
• Liaise with organizers to address room set up needs
• Motivate and supervise staff to meet NH Hotels service standards
• Identify training needs and develop delivery plans with hotel training manager
• Act as departmental trainer to improve service levels
• Benchmark local market offerings to stay best in class for creativity, service, value
• Coordinate with hotel purchasing for banqueting needs
• Work with Sales to inspect or care for walk-in potential clients
• Maintain knowledge of function room capacities, layouts, pricing, policies and related services
• Monitor and process billing/payments in line with accounting standards
• Ensure event rooms are clean, well maintained, and stocked
• Conduct monthly stock takes of Audio Visual equipment and manage procurement
