Job summary

The Capital Hotels, Apartments & Resorts in Johannesburg is seeking a Duty Manager to oversee shift operations across Food & Beverage, Accommodation and Front of House.

The successful candidate will resolve guest issues, ensure cash ups and reconciliations are completed accurately, and support the Front Office Manager as second-in-charge, bringing hands-on leadership and meticulous administration.

Qualifications

• Matric is required.
• Hotel management qualification or equivalent.
• 1–2 years supervisory/managerial experience preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and calm under pressure.
• Teamwork and ability to work independently.
• Honest, trustworthy and detail-oriented.
• Presentable and well spoken, with leadership by example.
• Second-in-charge to Front Office Manager.
• Strong admin and paperwork skills.

Responsibilities

Description

The Duty Manager reports into the relevant department heads on any particular shift and acts as the liaison between all departments, namely Food and Beverage, Accommodation, and Front of House. This includes taking full accountability for shift performance, resolving guest complaints and operational challenges proactively, and ensuring all financial processes during the shift - including cash-ups, reconciliations and variance control - are accurately completed and reported on time. The Duty Manager needs to have an overall understanding of all of the above in order to be able to fill in as required for any staff member who is not available for duty.

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric
• Hotel Management Qualification or Similar
• 1 - 2 Years Supervisory or Managerial experience advantageous.
• Hands on Problem Solving approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure
• Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
• Honest and trustworthy beyond approach
• Great attention to detail
• Presentable and well spoken
