We are looking for a visionary Data Lead to shape the future of how our business uses data.

In this role, you will partner with leaders across the organization to define their data needs and bring them together into a unified group-wide data strategy.

At the same time, you will build the foundations that make this strategy possible — creating data management and quality frameworks, and empowering data stewards across the business to ensure our data is trusted, well-governed, and impactful.

Qualifications

• Degree level NQF 7 (Bachelor’s eg: BCom, BSc or equivalent 3 year degree).
• Required Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.
• High level expertise in and detailed understanding of a number of different specialist areas within a function — Data strategies, frameworks, methodologies and governance.
• Years of experience, including 5 years in a senior role.

Responsibilities

• Problem solving for complex, open-ended issues affecting multiple business areas, requiring collaboration with other departments.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the organisation’s business objectives.
• Establish and maintain data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure data quality, consistency, and security.
• Oversee initiatives to improve data quality, accuracy, and completeness to ensure data is reliable for decision-making.
• Support the use of data analytics and business intelligence to derive actionable insights and drive business value.
• Ensure data is protected and compliant with relevant regulations and industry standards.
• Work with executives, department heads, and data professionals to align data strategies with business needs and ensure data is accessible and usable across the organization.
• Manage the lifecycle of data across technology portfolios, from collection to archiving, ensuring data is organized, stored, and accessible in a timely manner.
• Promote data literacy and a DataOps culture, enabling users to access and use data effectively.
• Explore opportunities to monetize data assets, such as data-driven services or products.
• Collaborate with relevant teams to optimising data constructs for AI effectiveness.
