Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Engineer - Structures, Data Centers, based in Durban, South Africa. You will perform detailed structural designs for concrete and steel systems, liaise with the project team and participate in planning, design and site visits.

This role supports international projects with Eurocodes and US codes. Minimum 4 years' experience, proficiency with Tekla/Etabs/Robot/Idea Statica, and a B.Eng degree are required; an M.Eng is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in design of concrete and steel structures.
• Solid knowledge of structural analysis software specified (Tekla, Etabs, Robot, Idea Statica).
• Revit Structures knowledge is advantageous.
• Experience in reinforced concrete and structural steel building design.
• Finite element design of concrete structures (flat slabs).
• Experience leading small design projects and estimating design timeframes.
• B.Eng Degree; M.Eng Degree preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of a Senior Engineer, perform detailed structural designs and calculations for concrete and steel structures.
• Assist with Revit modelling when required.
• Take responsibility for structural design and drawings.
• Be part of a project team and liaise with other professionals and contractors.
• Attend planning, design and site meetings and site inspections.
• Manage less complicated projects and ensure safety and integrity in documentation.
• Promote compliance with engineering standards and internal procedures.
• Work on international projects according to Eurocodes and American codes.
