Job summary

AECOM in Durban seeks a Senior Engineer to lead structural design on multifaceted projects. You will guide junior engineers, manage design delivery, and ensure BIM-enabled workflows using Revit and allied tools. The role blends technical leadership with client coordination in a multi-disciplinary environment.

You will work to deliver on schedule and budget, uphold safety and quality standards, and mentor teams while contributing to digital transformation across the discipline.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural), preferably M.Eng or MSc.Eng. At least 8 years’ experience post obtaining qualification.
• Professionally registered with ECSA as Pr.Eng. for at least 3 years.
• Ability to develop key and trusted client relationships that can lead to new business.
• Demonstrated collaborative skills, both internally and externally.
• Ability to advise on complex matters to non-specialists.
• Superior interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and understand the importance of delivery and client satisfaction
• Strong analytical, literacy and numerical skills
• Ability to function with minimal supervision
• Ability to delegate tasks and effectively supervise others
• Experience with American and/or European design codes preferable

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and drawings for projects.
• Oversee BIM-enabled workflows using Revit and other tools.
• Manage client meetings and set expectations.
• Provide technical reviews and ensure design compliance.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.
• Support project delivery within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Drive digital transformation and process improvements.
• Ensure safety and quality standards in all design activities.
