Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst to join the security team in Upington, Northern Cape. You will collect, analyze, and disseminate threat intelligence to protect critical assets and guide defensive actions.

You will collaborate with SOC, IR, and security engineering teams to operationalize intelligence, track threat actors, and contribute to threat hunting. This role demands rigorous research and clear reporting in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, International Relations, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in cyber threat intelligence, security analysis, or a related cybersecurity role.
• Strong understanding of threat actor methodologies, malware analysis, and network forensics.
• Experience with threat intelligence platforms and data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK framework.
• Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Proficiency in data visualization and presentation of complex information.
• Willingness to commit to on-site work in Upington, Northern Cape.

Responsibilities

• Collect, process, and analyze threat intelligence data from various sources (e.g., open-source, dark web, commercial feeds).
• Identify and track threat actors, their TTPs, and motivations relevant to the organization.
• Develop and disseminate timely and actionable threat intelligence reports and alerts to relevant stakeholders.
• Contribute to threat hunting activities based on intelligence insights.
• Support incident response investigations with contextual threat information.
• Maintain and enhance threat intelligence platforms and tools.
• Research and stay updated on emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and trends.
• Collaborate with internal security teams to integrate threat intelligence into security operations and strategy.
• Develop strategic intelligence assessments to inform long-term security planning.
• Build and maintain relationships with external intelligence communities and information sharing groups.
