Job summary

Kabstrading Co on board a luxury cruise ship in Cape Town seeks an experienced sushi chef to prepare nigiri, maki and sashimi to high standards. You will train junior chefs, supervise kitchen operations, and ensure food safety and cost control while delivering visually striking dishes.

You will collaborate with chefs to develop menus, manage inventory, and maintain a clean workstation as ships’ events require adaptability and teamwork in a dynamic onboard environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook sushi dishes to established recipes and standards.
• Maintain highest quality and visual standards for all sushi dishes.
• Train and supervise junior sushi chefs in proper techniques and procedures.
• Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Collaborate with other chefs and kitchen staff to develop new menu items and specials.
• Assist with menu planning and cost control measures.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times.
• Follow all company policies and procedures, including uniform and grooming standards.
• Participate in onboard events and activities as needed.
