Placements24 is seeking a highly accomplished Construction Project Manager to oversee large-scale residential, commercial and mixed-use developments in Soweto, Gauteng. You will lead all phases from planning and procurement through to handover, ensuring projects meet budget, schedule, quality and safety standards.

The role requires a minimum of 10 years in construction project management, with proven delivery of complex schemes, strong leadership, and deep knowledge of SA construction methods

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Post-graduate qualification is advantageous.
• Professional registration with SACPCMP or ECSA is highly desirable.
• 10+ years of experience in construction project management, focusing on large-scale developments.
• Proven delivery from inception to handover within budget and schedule.
• In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, contract administration, and SA regulations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction activities for large-scale developments (residential, commercial, mixed-use).
• Develop and manage master project schedules to ensure milestones are met.
• Control costs and budgets; implement cost-saving measures.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel.
• Maintain rigorous quality control procedures throughout the process.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, authorities and stakeholders for smooth execution.
• Procure materials, equipment, and services cost-effectively.
• Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings.
• Prepare and present progress reports to senior management and clients.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent property development and construction company, is seeking a highly accomplished Construction Project Manager to oversee large-scale development projects in Soweto, Gauteng . Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A relevant post-graduate qualification is advantageous.
• Professional registration with a recognized body (e.g., SACPCMP, ECSA) is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in construction project management, with a strong focus on large-scale residential and commercial developments.
• Proven experience in managing projects from inception to handover, demonstrating successful delivery within budget and schedule.
• In-depth knowledge of construction methods, building materials, contract administration, and relevant legislation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and construction management tools.
• Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and practices in South Africa.
• Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in complex situations.
